I'm thinking, the problem during trip is not the training method but rather the mindset you have. Psychologically and emotionally you'd be free from any hardship of your daily life and experience new ones. Daily hardship includes daily training therefore it is possible that no matter what the training method is, you tend to lose focus on what you do. Keep in mind that focus and concentration is key essense for training.
You'd rather eat and drink during trips, if this mindset fits you, then do lots of training before and do minimum during your trip.

Rif's word is "I hate travel", probably he has to have kettlebells at that very spot at very right time to train, have certain orders, rituals to follow etc.
