  1. Training Log: April 3rd, 2008

    Deadlift 5x185, 225, 325, 290
    Gripper 2x3 r/l x 5/7, 5/9, 5/11; 2x1 5/12
    Jumprope 8 30 30

I was going to restart the DL cycle, but my back felt great and I watched some Rippletoe video about form and decided to keep going if I can. The 325 was a good challenge, not easy, but also not a max effort. Will continue to climb as long as I can before resetting. Still about 1/4inch from closing the 5/12. Killed it with Jumprope. Going straight Tabatta from ...

    C&P (4x3, 1x2) 27 32
    Pullups 45
    Swings 50-60% 12 12 24

Today was as good as Monday was bad. I think it is all in the sleep. Presses were good. I used the medium band for higher reps and concentrated on pulling to my sternum. Substituted swings for snatches and gave my lower back a break. I think I have things figured out so this shouldn't be a problem in the future.

    Gripper 2x3 r/l x 5/7, 5/9, 5/11, 5/11

I think I have this lower back thing figured out. It hurts because I descend too slowly, too much under control. Skipped DLs to give time to rest. I am already beyond previous 5 rep PR range so I am going to restart cycle next week. Grip work is exciting. Getting good gains. Nearly closed the 5/11, which according to the chart is 235#!

    Monday (Heavy)
    C&P 4x5, 1x4 70 32
    Pullups 70

Not my best day. Felt like a collection of parts, probably due to lack of sleep. Could have completed the final rung but opted to stick to the plan and build slowly. Pullups were done with varying schemes with the bands. Usually 1&2 naked, 3&4 light and 5 medium. No swings. Lower back is killing me from Thursday.

    Gripper 3 r/l x 5/7, 5/9; COC1, 3x1RL

Did some grip work. Moved up to the 5 position on the supergripper and also managed some singles with the COC. Closed it 3 times R/L. Could have done more with the right but left was fried.
