2006-07-11PM; assisted with a whitebelt class, working on a little progression with Kimo teaching. Started with a baiana (double leg takedown), then added a guard pass, then added a neck crank...it was cool, because the whites got to see how to down a man, how to pass his guard when the opponent anticipates a successful takedown, and how to come around on the side and crank the shit out of him. These types of useful progressions are the best heuristic method for beginners, as they get to learn new ...

2006-07-10PM; jiujitsu. Started out switching off between to marines, tapping them a few times then switching...they weren't so hot, but it is good conditioning for me if not technically challenging. After that class started, I assisted a whitebelt going over four different armlocks from the guard. The guy I was working with was a pretty fast learner so he didn't require a lot of guidance. There was also a teenage kid from somewhere, just in town visiting, and he was phenomenal. I didn't get a chance ...

2006-07-06PM; wrestling...started out doing a round of sparring with big Dave; managed all right for a while before he finally got on top, set up an armbar and then switched up into a kimura when I devoted myself to a defense. Stupid mistake on my part. After that we did a warmup and then worked on takedowns and takedown drills for a little over an hour. Got home to find my neighborhood in lockdown as some asshole shot three people dead. Aloha!
