Tested max with BP, FSQ & Press, time to set some goals!
Becoming a student personal trainer at a local gym has given me free access to train there. So now I can use the squat rack and the bench press instead of doing floor presses and cleaning the bar for the front squat at home.
Testing myself
I started with the Bench Press. First I did some singles, doubles and triples and kept adding weight until reached my 2 rep max. at 80kg. I did two reps but definitely had another 1 or 2 in the tank. What surprises me is that the Bench Press seemed easier then the Floor Press to me.
Next was the Front Squat. I started with a triple at 50kg and worked up to a triple with 60kg. The last rep with 60 kg felt pretty hard, especially in the bottom position. I did all the reps 'as to the grass' BTW.
Testing myself in the Press, seem a bit unfair after the Bench Press, but I think I did get pretty accurate idea of my max in the Press. I started out with a triple at 50kg and soon reached my max with a double at 55kg. The first rep was done with perfect form no bouncing in the second rep my form started to break down and I was struggling at the top.
Goals 2009
- Bench Press 2 x 80kg > 5 x 90kg
- Front Squat 3 x 60kg > 3 x 90kg
- Press 2 x 55kg > 5 x 65
I will add my goals for the Dead Lift and Pull ups soon.
