Default Heavy KB's and the Deadlift

I'm wondering out loud here about the correlation between heavy KB swings and deadlift #'s. I don't care what your max dead is and what a "heavy" KB is to you. I want to know if switching to a heavier bell for a time, or even occasionally switching, has helped your deadlift out. I just want to know if throwing heavy KB swings in with my pulling workouts will be effective in working towards a bigger pull.

Default Heavy KB's and the Deadlift

When I first started swinging kettlebells, it helped my pull improve. I already had good hips, but the swings were great for active recovery and let me pull heavier with greater frequency. Nowadays, I've gone the other direction. Heavier swings help me maintain a solid deadlift (though not make new PR's) without as much heavy training.

Default Heavy KB's and the Deadlift

Rif once suggested to me that I do heavy KB swings for the eccentric loading while focusing on a DL program. I would definitely include them.

Default Heavy KB's and the Deadlift

When training for a heavy pull, I've added heavy doubles in the fast tens format (5,10,15,5,10,etc...) with great success. As Mr. Steinberg said, they're great for active recovery. I used them once a week in my training template.

Default Heavy KB's and the Deadlift

I just posted above ("Pavel's Stuff Works") with a success story along this line. I have been swinging the 2 pood, and also built a Dan John "Hungarian Core Blaster", and have been doing swings up to 125 pounds for sets of 5. I believe this has helped my deadlift dramatically. It seems to help with accelerating the bar off the floor.
