I tore a callus on my right hand during the snatch test because I was too excited to wipe the chalk off of the kettlebell handle. Afterwards Rif taped my hands and all was well. I take very good care of my calluses and they still rip occasionally.
It was rather warm in April of '07, and I also found that sunscreen on top of the tape provided great benefit in eliminating any more torn/blistered skin. Trust me, it didn't seem like such a hot idea, but I didn't have much of a choice. Since that weekend my lungs always give up before my grip during snatches!
Has anyone tried leather gymnastics grips -- the beginner kind with no dowel -- during a cert. I know Rif has a gymnastics background, so maybe he will see this and comment.
