    Cool VO2 with Swings

I want to start the 36:36 protocol with the swings, those out there who are doing this with swings how do you test for the right number of reps and what should I look to reach for numbers per set? Also has anyone done this with one hand swings alternating each set?
I need to dial in my swings some more after recently taking a workshop with Brett Jones which helped me immensely, and I thought this protocol might motivate me to prepare for the MVO2 workouts with snatches.

I haven't really heard of many people doing this with swings, aside from head high swings prepping for the snatch.
That being said, everyone swings at right about 40 swings per minute, so you shouldn't need to test. You should hit t 24 swings in 36 seconds. I think. Check my math.
In my opinion I would just alternate 30/30 or 1 min on/ 1 min off with swings, I don't think there is any magic in that extra six seconds until you start hitting snatches.
Or just start on 15/15 mvo2 snatching.

you can do swings on the 36:36 interval and you will become a better person for it, but it will not be VO2. From what I have read, Kenneth Jay has a lot of science behind this protocol and he picked the snatch because performing it requires the kind of output that taxes your VO2. I think I read (although it was about a year ago) that he did consider the swing, but the swing did not induce the right response.

So do 36:36 swings but do not be under the impression that it is bona fide VO2 work. I personally prefer a minute on, half minute off as my personal swing protocol, and I do sweat like a pig but it is not quite the same as VO2 work.

VO2 needs snatches. Swings...even with the 32 do not compare!!!
