Maybe I'm missing something here, but 32kg snatches after one month of kettlebells? After no previous experience with ballistics?

Only a marginal intense effort produces growth so what purpose have all the other sub marginal reps? I tried pavels higher volume approach on the PTP programme and felt overtrained and weak all the time even when doing less than half potential reps. My best ever gains came from 1 set of presses, 1 set of deadlifts and 1 set of squats every 9 days-each exercise on a different day and not to failure but very heavy around 5 reps-so i was trying a similar low volume approach with KBs.

Try ladders!
There is a reason so many programs round here are based on ladders - they work. You sound like you keep over training. Ladders will help you build up some capacity (you mention 'growth' if you are looking to put on some beef then just keep the rest periods short with the ladders). You sound like you may be a hare who needs to think like the tortoise.
Good luck,
Chiggers

Spend a couple of months on the program minimum.

thanks to all responding comrades
Mettleman is correct that I trained to failure-more accurately to inability to lower kb to shoulder very slowly-during the KB workouts, though I rarely hit failure in my most productive routine as I cycled up with small discs and usually made my reps. I do not agree that single heavy work sets are unproductive or unsafe-they have been the only protocol that consistently works for me and got me to the 400lb barrier in squats and stiff legged deadlifts.
That said, I will give ladders a go over the next 6 weeks on lower reps-1-3. I think this will be good to reinforce skill in a new exercise and clearly my alternative appears to be so demanding that I have buggered myself.the chap that was taking the mickey that I am only lifting the 32kilo bell after 4 workouts is a bit over-critical-its very demanding! Give me time!
Thanks to all comrades for responding.will report back in a couple of months.

Good plan. Although i would suggest spending some time as Dave suggests on the PM.
Keep us updated on how the ladders work out for you.
(just to back Martijn up i think you will find he wasn't taking the piss that 32kg is light after four weeks. He is saying quite the contrary. If you are only in your fourth week of training perhaps a more steady approach up to that weight would be advisable. Pavel himself says that only powerlifters and serious strength athletes should start with a 24kg)

He wasn't taking the mickey at all - you've totally missed the point. I'll try to put into words what, I feel, many people here are too polite to say:
1) You are running before you can walk - 32kg is too heavy for you at this time.
2) Listen to David Whitley.
Apologies to anyone who feels aggrieved at my including them.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Similar thing happened to me with my clean and press. Training singles with two 75 lbs dumb bells was going great and then I could do less and less until just doing one or two was a chore. Over training? I feel great otherwise and have no soreness when I train this lift so in any case I'm going to take some time off of that lift. What worries me is how strength that has been gained can be lost just like that.

Listen to Iron Tamer
If you are set on using your own methods (snatch-neg press 4x a month) then I suggest you stick with it until you're convinced it doesn't work then re-read David Whitley's post. The neat thing about Pavel's writings and the RKC is that they feature proven methods and protocols that work, use them.
Iron Tamer David Whitley just posted some excellent advice. When one of the RKCs finest provide advice, I'd pay close attention. His post probably should have been the last one in this thread. At first glance it may seem he's mindlessly regurgitating the party-line but consider that he's one of the most Senior RKCs out there... for a reason.
Based on your stated goal of pressing a 40kg 5 times per arm you simply (not easily) need to follow the ETK pressing ladders and you WILL acheive your goal. GAURANTEED. However, you must first complete the program minimum first as suggested by Com. Whitley. If you want to achieve the pistol read the Naked Warrior and start greasing the groove. if you want to achieve a 40kg pistol there are plenty of articles telling you how to do so written by those who have accomplished it.

You should back down to the 53lbs and practice your form. Your form is what you must perfect before trying to increase weight. You may be stong with BB, but you are new to KB and it is a whole other ball game.
Your pain, i suspect, is because your shoulder stabilizers are weak and can not handle the snatch at such a heavy weight. Concentrate on doing some windmills or TGUs, or both, to increase your shoulder strength and stability.
