Would 17kilo qualify as a "men's weight"? One has to wonder.

Wait a minute, Rambo is YOUR screen name here, are you making a confession?

Easily the most annoying for me: I am getting ready to use a piece of equipment like a rack, bench, machine etc. There is no trace that it is being used, no keys on it, no towel or water bottle near by, etc. As soon as I touch the equipment, some guy in a camo hat, wife beater tank top, and droopy sweat pants, comes huffing and puffing over to me from 20 yards away with cell phone in hand (he was texting before that) "Man, I'm using that machine!" Having that happen a few times during a workout at the Globo Gym by me after I had already had a kettlebell for a few weeks was one of the reasons I quite the gym altogether.

I should have been more specific--there is one 16kilo, and people aren't pressing it. As we know, that is the BEGINNING men's weight. I never started with it in the first place and began right away with the 24kilo. The men who do attempt any kettlebell work there use the plethora of 10lbs, 15lbs, and if they are daring or at least filled to the gills with the latest supplement drink, they'll try the 20lbs bell. All with atrocious form, but the light weight allows for it with no problem.
The gym I go to isn't so bad in terms of mullets. No power lifters really but lots of people dead lift at whatever level they are at, and it is always great to see. Most of the "mullet" people are just on the machines. Last weekend it was awesome because to my left was a friend of mine who was doing deadlifts, 500lbs for many reps, and to my right was a beautiful young lady doing squats in the power rack. I was doing side presses and bent presses. It was the old tyme training corner.

I told ya man, that's MY machine! You're welcome back, though. Seriously, was this at Ballys on 50? Even worse, was it Planet Fitness at the Eden Center? They kicked me out for bringing in my KB. I've gone to Fitness First for the last couple of years, and though I don't ever go anywhere near peak hours, I've never had a problem.

It was at the Gold's on Gallows near Lee Hwy. The other Gold's near Ballston is a litte nicer but a younger crowd seemingly looking to hook up, think it was even shown in Arlington: The Rap on Youtube . I only had the option of going on Saturdays which are peak hours. Between the crowded gym, horrible parking lot, and so-so child care, it was an easy choice to leave. Now I can get in a better workout in the time it takes to get door to door from my house to that Golds and back.

How about this one that happened to me tonight at Globo Gym:
- The guy who complains to the gym staff that your deadlifting is scaring him because you're dropping the weight.
Fortunately my Globo Gym staff is pretty cool and they laughed it off.
