What else can I be doing with PTTP?
Hi Everyone,
So, I am back on PTTP after coming of ROP. I am now in week 5 and while I do see dividends I often time leave the gym unsatisfied. I feel I have a greater work capacity after I am done with my pttp routine. My question is does anyone do additional work with either kettlebells or barbells in addition to PTTP? I certainly feel that I have built up a greater tolerance for volume work but I do want to balance gains in pttp with any work I take on.

Doing PTTP should never make you feel drained. It's for strength building and designed for fast recovery. If you want to tax your system, try the Bear program from PTTP. Doing Bear right, you will leave the gym feeling like you pushed the limits. The only problem with Bear is you can only do it 2-3 times a week, plus you have to eat a lot as well as rest a lot.

I think I am totally missing something. What is the bear cycle?
I have been doing two sets of dl 5 reps each increasing my weight each day by ten pounds and also on the same day doing presses in the same fashion. did I misread the book?

The book talks about the bear protocol for like...4 pages.
So just flip threw the book. I always find it by looking on the lower left corner of the pages, stop when you see a bear.
I actually didn't do this yet but am thinking of hibernating this winter and try it out, first I just want to build my strength back up since my rib injury.
If you still don't find it after a couple of tries then I'll post the page when I'm at home

The goal of PTTP is to make sure you do leave with some extra fuel in the tank. If you need more work do 2 weeks of PTTP, 2 weeks of ETK (or do ETK longer since you want to leave feeling beat up).
Again the goal is to stay fresh and be fresh w/ PTTP.
Go on a high volume routine (there's many to choose from in Beyond Bodybuilding) or try Crossfit (yes, I know - bad voodoo), but every now and than variation is good.
You could also do ETK specific days or ROP specific days and PTTP within the same week. Goto the Step Cycle in PTTP, and do ROP as prescribed. It'll take longer for absolute gains, but hey whatever makes you happy, keep you gaining :-).

Thanks Darryll and everyone. I opnened the book as saw the bear and re read the section. It is totally there! BTW this looks like something that is going to wipe me out So I am excited to start it. My question is and I am not clear on this.
I will do deadlifting 3x per week and also pressing 3x per week. 4-6 reps and 80% of the first money set. Do I pick one weight for the DL that I will work with ? Or do I employ a cycle such as linear or wave for the bear program? Should I start with 60-70% of my 5 rep max for the bear and progress every workout by 5lbs? That is where I am confused. Just need little more clarification.
PS: One of the best things about ROP is that it leaves you exhausted and very relaxed..btw not to mention and thanks to Pavel for this program. My shoulders became something I am very proud of Thanks Pavel!

Just in case you missed it (I did at first, then re-read it like 5 times and understood :P), you do your money set, then you do 90%, then you stay with 80% of your money set. Maybe I'm wrong..again... but since I remember Pavel saying something like "but if the little brother wants to be the big brother, he should not stop there" as in you do the normal PTP and then continue with 80%.
Now for your question, yes you do some kind of cycle and start with a lower weight while putting the weight up every workout or when you can. If weight isn't a possibility, try upping the density or volume (don't forget to take it easy some of the time, though).
Bear is the exact same thing at the usual PTP protocol, you just grow big by adding more sets per workout (i.e volume)

Does the new Power to the People cover everything that's in the first one?. Or is this a strictly more advanced copy for Pros?.
