Thumbs up Novice Strongman contest in NC, Sept 25, 2010

If you've ever wanted to try strongman this is the perfect contest for you! The Strongest Man at the Y will be held Sept 25, 2010 at the Salisbury, NC YMCA. Events:

    -short bus pull

    -Atlas stones (180lb, 235, 250)- tacky allowed

-tire flip (600lb tire)- if you can DL 225lb then you can turn this tire over!

-farmer's walk (about 115lb per hand), FW implements are much easier to handle than DBs, so if you can walk with a 65lb DB per hand than you can do this

    -Fingal Fingers

    Weight classes:

    under 175
    176-210
    211-250
    251 & up

Entry fee is $25. I've done this contest before, it's well run and a good time. For more info contact Kenny Seagle at (704) 636 0111 ext 223, email kseagle@rowanymca.com

Guys, if you've ever thought about trying strongman then this is a unique chance to experience it. Most of the NAS events are far too heavy for first timers.

Aug 23 about 6pm Kenny will be at the Charlotte YMCA with the implements for folks to try out, kind of a practice day to promote the contest in Charlotte. You're welcome to come out and try, or watch if you prefer. I'll post some details about the visit soon.

I'll bring some KBs to play with during the contest, maybe my clubbell too.

Sounds interesting! I'm not too far away- perhaps I can give it a try. Those weight classes are huge- there is a lot of difference between 176 and 210.

Quick question- this short bus pull. Are we pulling a short bus, or pulling a bus for a short distance?

The bus is somewhat short, also the distance is around 100ft if I remember, I'll find out. I think most guys averaged 35 sec. Come on out, you'll have fun!
