Cool One arm push ups Question. regarding 2 arms

I have a question. First let me state that i am USAF and because of this it is a requirement that i be able to do a set number of pushups in a minute.
I can easily reach this number, and usually far surpass the minimum.
I want to increase strength and i think 1 arm pushups is where a lot of it will come from. but my question is as follows.

If i focus on one arm pushups will this hinder, or enhance my 2 arm pushups quanity in a minute?

AKA. if i only do one arm pushups for 3 months GTG style, will i be able to do 55 2 arm pushups in a minute (like i can now) or will i drop to 40, or raise to 75?

    Thank you for your response.
    Best Regards
    Robert Cotterman

For the most part, the two shouldn't be related. 55 pushups in a minute is going to be largely related to muscular endurance, which you aren't training with GTG one-armed pushups.

It'd still be good to keep your endurance up though - if you don't keep up the 2-armed pushups, your numbers may drop a bit

thats what i thought, and thats what i was afraid of.
so your saying i should try to do a split routine.
i usually do 3 sets of 20 2 arm pushups before each meal.
should i maybe do 3 sets of 5 (or whatever i can) 1 arm pushups for breakfast and dinner.
and then 3 sets of 20 2 arms for lunch
    OR
one arms one day, and 2 arms the next day.

Well, 3x20 isn't really going to train endurance all that much either. If I were in your shoes, wanting to focus on strength without my pushup numbers going down, I'd do something like: GTG one-armed pushups throughout the day, and do 1 maximum set of 2-handers at the end of the day. Or something to that effect.

I wasnt thinking, and i really like oyur idea.
the truth is when i do 3X20 3 times a day, it kind gets tough, but if i did it once i wouldnt max lol.
i started at 3x25 but when i did that 3 times in one day it got kind of tough.
i like your idea a lot and i think thats what im gonna do

    I have another question.
I usually do my pushups WITH situps, so i aternate 3 sets of each.
then do that 3 times a day.
if i were to switch to GTG one arms, and max 2 arms end of day, how should i incorporate situps?
should i just max once a day?
or should i do 20 everytime i do my one arms?
