    I have rather large calves that I built with doing toe raises in a leg press machine but with really heavy loads, 1,000+lbs. But you need to work on it. Just like any other muscle.

    Russian Farmers Walks (framers walks done on toes): it is definitely THE exercise for my calves. I cannot find enough energy to work my calves consistently, but when I feel the need for some extra calves work, this is the only exercise that work for me.
