    Default Pistol Squats and Glutes

Do Pistol squats work the glutes? I know they give you powerful legs...but when I try to do them I don't feel a whole lot glute-wise or am I doing them wrong?

The whole lower body is worked by pistols. Depending on structure the emphasis may be different, but glutes go through a complete range of motion as well as the quadriceps, hamstrings, and calves.

Definietly yes! You can tense your glutes during doing pistols and you will be able to see difference.

You can imply some glute activation drills before working your pistols. One set of glute activation drill (bridges are my favourite), one set of pistols, etc.

Interesting article on T-nation, too: http://www.t-nation.com/free_online_...the_glute_myth

My glutes usually feel like they went through a beating after doing enough pistols, so yes, definitely agree that they work them.
