Agreed. The olympics ruined Taekwondo- turned it from a serious martial art into a game of tag. I think kettlebell sport has enough politics already. Get the IOC involved, and forget it. There are a number of World level kettlebell events hosted by several organizations in America, Russia, and Europe. That's good enough for me.

Golf and darts made it onto the list........
Race car driving ( NASCAR style ), Poker playing and X-Box playing are trying to get into the Olympics. Now ask yourself if any of those are sports?

How could poker be a sport? Isn't based off luck?

Poker isn't based on luck. Sure it plays a role, but surely luck plays an important role in many sports as well.

    I don't think it's a sport either. It's card game.

Well the reasoning is because Poker has been seen on ESPN and that starts putting the thinking in the minds of people that it is a sport.

As for X-Box or I should say video games in general the thinking is that you are using hand eye coordination for playing them and they also say that your using your brain which is a muscle doing it.

I have not read all the responses, but the answer is simply $$ and politics.

Poker wouldn't suit the Olympics. A 'bad run' of cards can last a long long time. The 'best' in poker is determined over years of play. The poker world is non-elitist, non-athletic, and has a criminal element; some things which go fundamentally against the Olympic Spirit.

For those who are still interested, last Tuesday a professional poker player won $18 million in a poker tournament. He probably wouldn't get out of bed for anything less than 3 gold medals...

Getting back to a new multi event different from the decathlon.
I was thinking something with running, biking, swimming, a climb, rowing, dead lift, A throw, and wrestling or boxing. With KB's WTH effect, there could be olympians in the RKCs.

There's already the pentathlon and triathlon. It's hard to see any more multi event sports getting in. Especially sports which don't exist.

So why isn't Kettlebell sport (GS) an Olympic sport? IDK maybe there is a petition going that I dont know about. I know they have the clean and jerk and the snatch as Olympic events. I feel its not the same. I believe Pavel mentioned a comparison in one of his books (I can't remember of which one) that Kettlbell lifting is more of a working mans sport. I think it could have more appeal to a greater number of people than say synchronized swimming. I know its only been popular for a few years and it takes a long time to become a Olympic sport and im just complaining to soon. IDK What do you think?
Another thought to consider: if kettlebell sport became an olympic sport, then hardstyle, overnight, would be come the "wrong way" to lift. Just ask anyone who does ITF Taekwondo.
