    Default PM + deadlifts

I am feeling better after my illness and miss doing deadlifts. I am currently doing the Program Minimum till I get my conditioning back and am ready for the ROP. Where should I fit deadlifts into the program? On the two off days or on the workout days?

If I remember correctly from a previous thread, Pavel recommends doing them on the two off days.
    Monday: tgu
    Tuesday: deadlift
    Wednesday: swings
    Thursday: tgu
    Friday: deadlift
    Saturday: swings

The above looks good. I know a lot of times I want to work out every day, but I also know that doesn't work well for me in the long run.

So if I were to set it up, this is what I'd do:

    day 1: dead lift
day 2: get ups, then swings
    day 3: off

    rinse and repeat.

Actually, I think the get ups could go on either day, just as long as you did them first.

The program minimum follows this routine..

    Mon - Swings
    Tues - TGU
    Wed - OFF
    Thurs - Swings
    Fri - TGU
    Sat - OFF
    Sun - OFF

So if you want to do deadlifts on your off days, then it would be Wed & Sat (or Sun). If you are doing the ROP, then do deadlifts on your variety days.

Technically you don't want to do TGU's and swings on the same day.

So I have to say its never occurred to me to add deadlifts to the program minimum. However that sounds like a great addition to the minimum. Sometimes something simple and obvious stares us in the face and it never clicks into place.
I'm going to have to try adding DL to the pm next time I revisit that routine.

What's wrong with swings and getups on the same day?

    X2

Dave Whitley's BMF and Furnace Workout comes to mind. I've also seen a simple workout by Geoff Neupert where you do 30s swings followed by a getup, rest for 1 min, repeat for as many times for 20 minutes.

Over the years I feel like a lot of people have combined swings and get ups on the same day. I personally do my PM that way as it allows me to have 3 practice sessions a week with both the main lifts. I also thought it would allow more space to fit in the deadlift, that is why I suggested it above

That Neupert workout sounds tough, though. I wouldn't want to be doing it with too heavy of a bell. But it also sounds like it would be awesome practice for staying tight, especially when you're fatigued. So maybe I'll have to give it a shot one day.

There is nothing wrong with it, but from what I read on p.73 of ETK it's not the recommended method.

I could be reading it wrong.

It's not the recommended method for the minimum. No reason you can't do more than the minimum, although the minimum works pretty well all by itself.
