I need to erase the tape in my brain. This is THE example of "too much information" (TMI) From Japan huh... No wonder the population of Japan is dropping like a stone. Too much watching and not enough doing..Dennis

Have also just read on internet from another online community - MGTOW - a mens rights group of some sort. Sounds weird huh? And they go into detail about Alpha, Beta, Omega, Sigma male characteristics. And that by going nofap a male could change many beta characteristics into alpha characteristics. They claim that with nofap your voice can get deeper, grow more facial hair, stronger and become more assertive and aggressive maybe become like Don Draper from Mad Men and be more attractive to females. This would be due to sperm retention in the body. Maybe this be the fountain of youth?...Dennis

Its like I said that with the internet too much information is usually not a good thing. Too many haystacks not enough needles. And combining ignorance with too much information which is inaccurate or half true is like a chimpanzee in a chemistry lab. Nothing good happens there...Dennis

Geoffrey I agree completely that the science has the final say. I would still like to hear first hand ...ooopps!...account from someone with actual experience. It is an interesting subject, but not everyone with credible knowledge is in agreement - such as it is there are myths, half truths and exaggerations galore. As Shakespeare would write "to fap or not to fap, that is the question" - Me thinks I got that wrong...hehehe!!!...Dennis

Do you mean actual T measurement which may or may correlate well with subjective experience since there are so many variables to the latter. And not to be discounted in subjective experience, hell, even in actual T blood level, is the neuroendocrine effects of belief (see anything by Bruce Lipton, PhD.). My best guess is that a person's mind/emotional state plays a much bigger role on the chemistry than most reductionist scientists would like to think. There's probably a wide spread (Oops, I said "spread") of experience vs chemistry

I was thinking of the overall experience affecting strength performance. But like you said there are other variables so subjective biases would enter in. Actual measured T results would say a lot here. AND like you said that the persons mind and emotional state will play a big role..especially if someone already has a bias one way or the other. People will make claims that will place "whatever" in a more favorable light. This whole subject triggered my interest because I initially thought of it as "whackey"...ooops!...and even a bit silly. But I was also interested in the strength/testosterone claims about it...Dennis

Even there. I have not research evidence but I would bet that strength and testosterone level is only loosely correlated. Testosterone likely will go up and down with mental states/beliefs, the mind changing and driving the chemistry. At least that's my bias. And I know from experience it works both ways, body chem also drives mental states.

Those who pursue this method have already have it set in their mind that it will do all they hope it will do. For decades football coaches and boxing coaches have always admonished their athletes not to engage in any sexual activity prior to a big game or match. So this line of thinking about abstinence goes way back...Dennis

On the other side of the coin my guess would be that those who engage in masturbation while viewing porn probably have lower testosterone due to the fact that activity of viewing internet porn is such a dirtbag preoccupation and is completely time wasting and unproductive in every regard. How can a man be/feel like a man if he acts like a 14 year old boy? No rational right thinking man should feel good about himself after he behaves like that. This is all just my opinion, but some may say that this activity actually boosts testosterone levels...Just saying...Dennis
