Default Any interesting New Years Resolutions proposals?

I am not a fan of making New Years Resolutions on Jan 1st. It can happen though, but I make resolutions on any given day with equal vigor. Jan 1st is not magical. But I would be interested to read input about any ones ideas on what they propose/hope for in a resolution this Jan 1st. And also, if they have a solid concrete plan to move it forward toward success in the new year. This btw is for training/diet goals and plans presented for success. I have not thought one out for myself except to continue with my intermittent fasting which is at about 200 days going strong now with 100% success. Problem with my strength/condx training is that there are just too many choices and not enough days in my lifetime to experience all of them. So lets see whats out there for New Years resolutions...Dennis

Three days ago I resolved ( I know its not NYE..hehe!!).. to begin my cold shower routine. My resolve is to do it for 30 days. I have been reading up on the benefits of cold showers on the internet and watched numerous youtube videos prior to taking the plunge. I decided to do it twice a day - first thing in the morning and again in late afternoon after training. Many benefits are indicated but the one that stands out for me is the mental benefits from cold water showers/baths. MENTAL TOUGHNESS first of all and also just the benefits to the brain generally as far as alertness and eliminating mental fog and depression or just the "blues" for me. As a result of cold showers, the morning instantly becomes very chipper and sun shiny. And I experienced the huge desire to DO SOMETHING that will result in great benefit to me. It is tough to do these cold showers. Not many people want to do it. In fact, there is something of a fear factor in this. It moves you out of your comfort zone in a big way. So three days ago I decided to make the resolution to undergo this regime. And I realize its not NYE - but delaying this decision for Jan 1st in my mind is simply delaying the failure in the pursuit of the goal. Anything worth doing is worth doing immediately - NYE be damned - in order to maximise success..imho...Dennis

Happy New Year!... With the cold showers...I recall watching various documentaries on Navy Seal Training at the Coronado Amphibious Training Naval Base in SoCal. BTW I was there in 1975 as a U.S. Marine Radio Operator for Rubber Boat Training (IBS-Inflatable Boats Small). This was in Jan-Feb and the ocean water was intensely cold as I was there for three weeks for training. BTW that ocean water is very cold all year round. Unbearably COLD. Scrotum shrinking cold.. But, back to the NAVY SEALS BUDS TRAINING...What one documentary revealed was that one of the primary reasons that men drop out (ring the bell) of BUDS is that they cannot cope with the intense cold. They do not display enough MENTAL TOUGHNESS to undergo the exposure to cold every day at 04:30 am. Many men who are extremely physically fit and strong cannot do it and thus are driven to ring that bell. You cannot be comfortable. Some are way out of their comfort zone. They can only hope to manage their fear and doubts. One day at a time. One minute or one second at a time. Its 4:30 am. its dark and you are neck deep in freezing ocean water. And you begin to have serious doubts of making it through this day...Dennis
