    Default Pavel re: SWAT Dips

Pavel, the SWAT dips are great! The elimination of the pre-stretch makes an incredible difference in the difficulty of the exercise. Dips have always been a favorite exercise of mine but I have avoided them because of the risk of injury. The fact that SWAT dips are safer for the shoulders is just icing on the cake.

Thanks for the idea for the exercise!

    Brad

I apologize if I'm intruding on a conversation that's none of my concern but how are SWAT dips done?

    Default The door's open.

A SWAT Dip is a really stupid cop who trips in his G.I.Joe action gear.
Actually, you set a step at your feet when your arms, above the shoulders are paraell with the bars and dip up from that point. it's tougher, because you start from dead weight, but you don't strain you're shoulders.dzt73@hotmail.com

    Brad,
They're a great exercise. I like to do them on the rings. I just set them to a height where my feet touch the ground between reps. Sometimes I use excess tension and go slow. Other times I explode a bit more. Of course, it's hard to explode too much when you're on the rings.
When I do dips, it's almost always the SWAT variety. Or actually, during a muscle-up. That's where I do probably 75% of my dips.

Com. Brad, thank you for your kind words! Indeed, at your level of strength you need to be extra careful with exercise selections.
