    Default Bench Press Question

I was benching the other day... really slow, controlled reps... and felt something strange. My back flexed or expanded, and it felt like I was using my back almost as much as my chest, shoulders, and arms. Needless to say, the weight felt a lot lighter.

Has anyone here experienced this? Is there anything that I can do to get my back more into it?

    Default Bench Press: first love...

I had such experience practically eveytime in those last 2 years of my competiting career....by the way: take the bar as possible below the line of nipples, arch the back at the very best, pump and extend the lats BEFORE lowering the weight, and in any case try inverted grip bench pressing.

Can you mind now that is there still people doing the Bench "because it works the pecs" ??

    Default oh yeah

Thanks for the advice... looks like I will have to learn to extend my lats. I love the bench, and it loves me. I have short arms and a thick chest, and I get a kick out of going to the gym and benching more than guys bigger than me. I'm hoping that your tips take my bench through the roof!
