I am a BJJ/submissions grappling student as well. I find it best to do light grappling related activities first like 10-15 minutes of jumping jacks, burpees, break falls, neck yes-no drills, leg raises, balloon squats with partner, etc. Then stretch.

    halfaguard,
The way I warm up my team is jogging around the room, skipping, sommersaults, stance drills, and penetration steps. I like them to have a good sweat going before we begin technique work. It seems to prep the brain even more than the body.

sounds pretty much like what we do now. i was curious since pavel does not really recomend a warmup before ptp what his opinion would be.
