Default Qigong in Road House movie?

In the movie Road House starring Patrick Swayze, Swayze does what looks like qigong or tai'chi in front of a big pond. Does anyone konw if it is one of the two? If so which one? This has bugged me for a long time and hopefully someone can clear it up.

    Thanks
    Brandon

    Default Are you Kidding Me?!

    More like "sweaty-hollywood-pretty-boy-muscle-flexing!!"
"....look at the way the sun glistens off his chest...." I never thought I would ever see the name "Swayze" used in any context whatsoever on this forum without the words "huge sissy" or "horrible actor" IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING IT.........
-Careful, Comrades! Watch out Pat doesn't catch you with the "Throat ripping" technique! Gimme a break.

    Sorry Comrade....JMO,

Default Qigong in Road House movie?

It doesn't look like either to me. It looks like some sort of tension kata.

Default It is very possible, a friend of mine

Mark Johnson, taught Patrick Swayze Qigong and I think also Tai Chi, many, many years ago -- around the time he made that awesome movie Point Break.

    Default agree..

It could've involved techniques of both..

The way I was taught Bagua and Hsing I are the parents of Tai Chi, and his throat ripping technique is a tiger technique, probably known by many..

    Default I can't believe I'm saying this, but . . .

Now granted I haven't seen the movie in a while but I remember when I did watch it I commented on the fact that the moves he was doing were Tai Chi from the short form a believe. Two movements that stick out in my head are Part the Wild Horses Mane and Waves Hands Like Clouds. Don't remember too much else about the movie, , , except the blonde Dr. IDMT

Default Ok, Ok,...Point Break was pretty cool.

    You've got me there.

    - I'm actually a little upset I forgot about that one.

    "Lawyers don't surf, man!!"
    "This one does."

"You've got that Kamikaze look in you're eyes, Johnny. Bodhi can smell it a mile away. He'll take you to the edge,.......past it."

"This is stimulating, but we're outta here."
