    Default Lights Out- T.S. Wiley

Just finished reading this book, very interesting!
I do not like her writing style however and she seems very speculative and fanciful at times, but I would generally agree on the importance of sleep and artificial light.

What do people here think about the basic principal that artificial light tricks the body into thinking its summer, which makes us crave carbs so that we can store fat for the coming winter?

Anthropologically sound or pseudoscentific mumbo jumbo?

Sounds logical. If I were to take all the light bulbs out of my house, I definitely think I would eat less but most likely due to going to sleep earlier.

I eat the least amount of carbs in the summer and the most in the winter so I would say that that is mumbo jumbo.

Good book, well worth reading. I just heard about a study today linking lack of sufficient sleep with obesity. Get sleep, and be sure the room is dark. Also, different people need different amounts of sleep - get what you need.

Good book (as far as content). Dimming lights an hour before bed and wearing a mask while you sleep are good starts! zzzzzzzzzzzz

Eye mask to block out the light.

Anyone know of a good eye mask to buy? Mine just hurts my ears and then falls off halfway thru the night anyway...

yea, during a couple of years of sleep-maintainence insomnia (i.e. I fell asleep alright but woke up repeatedly every night), I tried masks and it was never still on in the morning. I got some blackout curtain lining and set that up over my windows and it was quite good.

Found one at WalMart that finnally worked-in the chick section with all the loofahs (however you spell it). Eye pads are cupped, very adjustable straps. Third attempt at finding a mask...zzzzzzzzzzzzzz
