    Default Q about protein snacks

    Hi everybody,

i don`t follow a specific diet, but i feel good when i eat light during the day and the last meal is a big one.
light does not mean that i fast or follow the WD, just easier on digestion, like shakes with veggies, fruit and oatmeal in it and of course fruit or veggies alone. i need significantly less sleep with this, but my problem is, that i dont know what proteins to eat during the day that are easy on digestion and not dairy. i can have some butter, but milk and yoghurt wont work for me.
Any suggestions on light protein snacks?

    Thank you.

I love almonds - but only raw or sprouted. You can buy them in bulk at most natural food markets. They are a little sweet and crunchy and easy to transport. Do be warned that each almond has about 10 calories. They keep me full of energy though throughout a long day.Branching Out

I second the recommendation for almonds. I buy mine dry roasted at Trader Joe's. They're a great source of protein and healthy fats.

How about hard-boiled eggs? I've been eating a few hard-boiled eggs a day at work during my recent experiment with light eating during the day. Almonds are good too.

Hard-boiled eggs are my wife's choice - she'll make a few to keep in the refrigerator, then after a morning workout, grab one on her way out the door to eat in the car.

jerky is a good protein snack too. but you have to watch the commercial brands, always too much salt. best bet is to dry the meat yourself. Also, I've never had it myself and if anyone else has let me know how it is, but I've heard of taking the jerky a step further and making pemican. It's basically jerky that is crushed almost to powder and mixed with rendered beef fat to form a kind of paste. I've even seen some people online mix in dried fruit to make a sort of energy bar with it.
