    Question WD + Chewing Gum?

Is it ok to chew on some gum during the fast period? I was wondering because by chewing on a gum, you could trick your mind to think that you are eating a meal, thus ending the undereathing phase.

And what if the gum has some sweet taste like strawberry?

    Thanx!

I remember once my wife was going in for a procedure and was told to "fast" from 10pm the previous night. When queried she admitted she'd chewed gum on the way to the office that morning and was scolded by the anesthesiologist. Apparently the gum chewing does trick the body into thinking it has eaten and releases the appropriate hormones that "negate" the effects of fasting.

If you really don't think you can make it through the fasting rather than chewing gum try a 0 calories carbonated beverage. I like a flavored seltzer once a fast--and it carries me through the darkest hours home to my eating window.

The way I practice and understand the warrior diet is that it is an under eating period and not a strict fast until the four hour over eating period. You can try to emphasize the detoxifying qualities of the diet by fasting I understand.

I heard somewhere that as a general rule you don't want to have something in a single period exceeding 250 calories, but I don't know where I heard it or if it is entirely valid. That's usually my rule of thumb though.

I still like the warrior diet best eating as little as possible during the day, but I will usually have at least one piece of fruit or a few nuts during the day. I will always eat an apple and possibly a few nuts before I work out.

I've taken to throwing down an 1.25 ounces of trail mix then drinking a full glass of water for lunch and I am fine until dinner. Breakfast is usually 8-12 almonds and a full glass of water.

the idea behind the undereating phase is to detoxify and stabilize your insulin. When you chew a sugary gum you spike your insulin and ruin the whole process of stabilizing it. I am not saying you can't lose weight by chewing gum, it is still udereating, but if you want maximum results from the undereating phase, i wouldn't reccomend chewing the gum.

I too think that during a fast you should not eat a chewing gum because it is a kind of eating thing only and during fast we should not eat anything.

keep in mind that the WD is not a waterfast but undereating! (of course you an practice water fasting too but that's not optimal as ori wrote in the book.
still, chewing gum sucks, it does nothing for you and is loaded with chemicals. try organic espresso or matcha green tea if you want something healthy that keeps the hunger away
