Default Eat stop Eat

Can anyone briefly explain this system before i go and buy the e-book.... and has anyone used it and seen results?

I have been on the WD and have lost over a stone but i am now maintaining .I have reduced cals again but still seem to be staying the same!!!!

Someone said about ESE but i wondered how the days are made up?

I think i have the basic theory as this;

Eat normal healthy meals 3-4 times a day but on two occassion observe periods of fasting.
These should be broken so say noon Monday to noon Tuesday then noon Friday to noon Saturday

During the fasting drink water only?

Is this about right?

If this is the idea im going to get the book and get the extra bits that come with it....meals etc

This system never really gets much of a mention on here but when i looked it up it sort of states that its a progression on the WD???

Go over to fitnessblackbook.com. The site owner there is on ESE after doing the Warrior Diet. Supposedly helps you get extra lean. I haven't tried it personally because I've never done a 24 hour fast.

It seems you have the general idea though.

Tezoak, You can do eat stop eat without buying the book. The book is good if your intested in the research behind the program. In a nutshell, you fast four 24 hours twice a week, but eat everday. Your fasting days and times is whatever works best for you. For example I fast on Sunday and Thusday. On these days I start my fast at 8pm, And break the fast at 8pm the next day. While fasting you can have water or any calorie free drink you like. The whole point of the program is to live with less restriction. Eat whatever kind of diet you feel works for you. Eat healthy but don't worry about having a piece of cake or some other food you like once in a while. Good luck!

Im doing a bit of both at the same time - ESE and WD. On my WD days, I stick to mostly vegetables during the day, a protein shake after working out, maybe some nuts or a small amount of cheese. At night I have the standard WD meal - salad first, meat and cooked vegetables, then either fats or carbs or alcohol.

Twice a week I'll skip the vegetables and other stuff during the day and do a 24 dinner-to-dinner fast. I'll have coffee and drink water.

If you think about it, the ESE days are pretty similar to WD other than not really undereating. I have a lot of weight to lose which is why I am going this route. For the more 'common' person, the idea of ESE is that the one to two days a week that you do a 24 hour fast should be enough to help you lose one or two pounds a week without really having to adjust your normal eating routine.

I would also add that ESE aims to create a caloric deficit over a weekly or monthly cycle instead of the daily cycle of most eating protocols. If you eat "normal, healthy" five days out of seven, and nothing the other two days what you have done is created a caloric deficit that is more beneficial than a small deficit every day. "Episodic" is a term I have seen used. Humans are better adapted to episodic events than we are to chronic events.

Chronic underfeading via a daily caloric deficit is stressful and is interpreted as starvation.

Episodic underfeeding has the opposite effect. There are many health benefits from occasionally fasting.

none of which have yet to be shown are unique to IF, and that can't be achieved with good nutrition and exercise.

so if you like it and want to do it, go for it if it works for you - as others will note there are other than nutritional properties about IF that some folks experience as very liberating.
