Default Which Diet?

I'm 6' 1" 137lb just starting the ETK PM, I want to gain a lot of strength and I want all my muscle to be very lean. I would like to go to 145lb but that's not my main concern. I know almost nothing about nutrition and diets so what is the best diet for me or what should I look into or read to figure out how I should manage my diet? Thanks

The best diet is the one that works well for you, that you can stick with, and wont leave you emotionally unsatisfied. You could look into the Warrior diet for a one meal per day feasting approach, precision nutrition for lots of eating all day and fancy stuff like nutrient timing, eat stop eat if you maybe want to fast once or twice a week and eat like normal the rest of the time. My recommendations, eat whole food, cooked primarily at home, lots of veggies, and a good protein source (meat, nuts, milk, whatever) with each sitting. Drop things like soda's, snickers bars, ice cream, sugar. I'm a big fan of hot tea, and would have the whole world drinking it if I could. And above all else, don't start over complicating it and stressing yourself out because you HAVE to eat this or that or if you have that one mini reeses cup at Halloween (I knew I shouldn't have done that).

On a side note, if you are wanting to hit 145 pounds, and you want to be lean. I would shoot for the 145 first, then lean out and see where that puts you, rinse, repeat until satisfied.

These are just my oppinions, and I have no idea what I'm talking about.

Have you always been at 137 pounds? To be honest you sound like you're on the skinnier side, and have the luxury of pigging out to put on muscle.

If you want to put on lean muscle then I recommend eating lean protein, healthy fats, and low glycemic carbs (mainly veggies and some fruits). You'll probably have to mess around with the ratios to see what works best for you. Good luck on your journey to 145.

free ebook - may help - habits based approach to nutrition, not calorie counting; it also will give you a good overview to what nutrition is about (as opposed to diet)

by the way, muscle is lean
