    Default High carb low fat and protein diet for weight loss

    I kinda already know the answer to this but would really, really like an answer, even just a "no" or "yes" will be brilliant.

    Also, to add in protein of at least 30g to this diet, would it dramatically effect weight loss? Assuming Casein was taken in the morning.

    High carbs wil keep your energy levels up. The protein will help to give you the full feeling longer thereby keeping your calorie intake down.

    You have to find what works for you. Some people get great results on higher carb, lower fat and vice versa.

    I would say make sure you get your protein requirements in i.e. 1-1.5g per lb of mass and then try out different fat/carb ratios to get the remainder of your calories.

    I am for higher carb lower fat on workout days and higher fat lower carb on non-workout days.

    (energy in) - (energi out) = weight +/-

    And it is pretty simple, if you eat more than you run you will gain weight.
    (Though "science" shows you lose more % of that weight in fat if you eat fat instead of carbs...)

    Also eat 2g protein/kg bodyweight.

    Fat is better for energy than carbs. It gives a steady burn (instead of having your sugar levels spike and drop, making you want to eat more), and it's broken down by the body easier. I was reading about that in a few places, but I reamember it best from Barefoot Running by Michael Sandler. Seems to work better. Plus, you need to gauge how much fuel you eat by the amount of effort you're expending. If you don't reduce it when you're not going to be doing much exercise, then you'll most likely wind up getting fat. It sounds good ("to eat carbs to give you energy"), but sometimes you don't need much energy.
