I tried it for a while, maybe 3 months urging a time when I was suffering from insomnia.

I noticed absolutely no effect at all from taking it and stopped.

Magnesium is essential for cells to metabolise oxidatively. When you get plenty of Magnesium whether it is from supplementation, epsom salt baths or oil it gives your cells plenty of what they need to function properly in a non excited state. This means your body doesn't need to release stress hormones to keep up with energy demands hence why you get better sleep - Stress hormones are at their highest over night thanks to the fasted state and darkness both of which cause a stress response. Having lots of magnesium and sodium significantly blunt the stress hormone response which aids in restful sleep.

Because Magnesium helps the cell regulate its sodium and calcium it reduces blood pressure. Excited cells (That have taken up calcium) cause arterial and vain spasm if excited for a prolonged amount of time. Relaxed cells increase vasodialation in the healthy sense.

Sodium, Magnesium, potassium and Calcium all overlap somewhat in their functions so getting plenty of Magnesium or any of these other minerals helps cover a shortfall of any one of them.

I've used magnesium oil for 2 years. I use 18 sprays 2x a day and then take ZMA at night. I never get sick or get colds. It helps with the aches and pains, and I sleep well with it. My mother swears by it for her arthritis.
