    Default creatine and tendon injury

I have a climbing friend talking of taking creatine. As a climber myself and having used creatine before i did not find it of any use and infact found that it made my tendons more susceptible to injury. I have told them this, yet they are quoting info given to them from a GNC salesgirl. is there any evidence or studies that prove what i thought might be the case? Many climbers have had his complaint while on creatine, what is your experience or knowledge?

    thanx.

    Default Nope...

don't buy it. If your climbing and your tendons don't hurt, your not climbing hard enough. The only possible connection could be dehydration. You need to up the fluid on creatine, and tendons, like everything else, need hydration. But I think your friends are having a shared sypathetic ache.

That said, I would not do creatine if I was still climbing in comps. The 5 - 8 lb weight gain ain't worth it if your at 5.11 or up.

Listen to Bill, he has the straight dope. And anyway, I thought creatine was meant to increase your maximum strength for short bursts of high intensity exertion? (I could be mistaken) Rock climbing is both high intensity and high duration - rock climbers want to be wiry and skinny, not bulky - why would anyone think it was useful??

Default My afternoon w/ Freddie Nicole

Freddie showed up at a comp I was at 5 or 6 years ago, smoked a few cigarettes, and then cranked all the 5.13/v 10 fantasy problems at the gym. He wasn't competing, that would have been a joke. Got to talk training with him. Wasn't that productive since those guys just follow the sun and do little indoor or gym training. Huoco, Fauntenbleu...

He had very short fingers and forearms the same size as his arms. He agreed that a little campusing goes a long way and preferred the add-on game on a bouldering wall. You do a move, I add, you add etc...then he smaoked some more cigarettes
