    What size plates are those???

    they are 20 kg plates. Their diameter is about 14" and they are on 1.5-2 inch platforms that protect the floor.

    grip will not help you directly in AW, at least not the grip you gain from grippers of all sorts. thick bar work will help you.
    buy a sledge hammer and start levering it and rotating it. wrist curls...
