post workout recovery - is the clock ticking?

Very interesting. I often thought about this. In my case I consume alot of protein in general during the day (eggs, fish, poultry, milk products) and I am sure that I have enough protein in my system in order to handle muscle building demands from workouts. However, I do drink a post w/o shake (1 glass organic milk, whey powder, 1 banana) but I often wonder if it is necessary.

I heard that just because your recovery meal isn't optimal, or timed well doesnt mean you wont get into positive net protein balance and reap the rewards of your workout.. it just means it will be slower. However your body adapts to what it is given. Manual labourers dont drink protein shakes all day!
