You gotta practice it. You can make athletes strong different ways. Make sure you are teaching them the proper way. Anything is dangerous if not done properly. For my own personal training, I do Oly lifts, KB's, some Crossfit stuff, some strongman . Do what you need to and focus on the needs of your athletes. Don't pigeonhole yourself or your athletes. Make sure that you have some basis for why it is you are doing what you are doing.
